Slide COME BACK DIANA FABEROVA I will always remember the day I decided to do an internship at IEO in Milan and the hours I spent studying Italian with my teacher Veronika Kostalova to prepare us for the interview for the acceptance of applications, which is usually held in Prague and which all aspiring interns are required to have with Mr. Bagnoli. The interview in Prague went very well and this meant I was able to leave for Italy on 27 September 2019. The journey to Milan by bus from Hradec Králové took about 17 hours. One thing that impressed me a lot when I arrived in Milan was the weather: even though it was almost October, it still felt like summer.

From the bus station we went to the flat that the IEO had made available to me for the duration of the internship. The flat was tastefully furnished, had a balcony, was close to where I was going to work and was well-connected by public transport to the centre of Milan. I had time to get organised in the first few days after my arrival with the precious help of both Petra and Mr. Bagnoli. On 1 October I went to work for the first time and, since the flat was so close, I walked there. The IEO is a beautiful, modern hospital with a beautiful garden. I was given my uniform and I went on a tour of the hospital with my ward sister. I met my new colleagues and started working. During each shift, I was shadowed by a supervisor who gradually showed me the ward procedures. Right from the start I really enjoyed working at the IEO. After work I went for a walk in the city with the friends I met in Milan.

Milan is a beautiful city that lacks nothing. I am writing this letter after nine months in Italy, after finishing my internship and with a new contract at the IEO. I have to say that the internship in Milan was the best decision I have made in my life. I have learnt a new language, which is fundamental if you want to do well in the internship, I met new friends, I got to know a new way of life and I am doing a job that I really like. I would like to thank my teacher Veronika, who passed on her passion for the Italian language and Italy, and Mr. Bagnoli for always being there for me throughout the entire internship.
